LIFT

Lift is another word with multiple meanings. It means to move an object up to a higher level, so you lift a box from the floor onto a table. In a building, a lift or elevator transports people vertically between floors. You can give someone a lift in your car: you take them somewhere. Lift also means to steal, so if you steal something from a shop, you are a shoplifter. Let´s not forget a face-lift a surgical operation which makes people look younger. If you need a face-lift, perhaps you also need a voice-lift. This is a quick operation that makes your voice sound higher and therefore younger.

LIGHT

The word light has many different meanings. Light is ilumination, either from the sun or from artificial sources, and when we see the light we discover new ideas or become religious disciples. Colours can be light or dark, so a cloudless sky is light blue. If you want to smoke a cigarette, you need a light: use a lighter or match. A light room is full of light, but a light suitcase isn´t heavy. Are you confused? Well, here comes another meaning: first, there were light cigarettes with reduced nicotine levels, next came light dairy products with reduced fat content. What´s next? Many couples live together without getting married, so what´s the name of his relationship? A marriage light, of course!

PHISHING

Phishing isn´t a spelling mistake: it´s new internet crime. A criminal "phishes" the internet for victmis: he sends out thousands of emails whih direct people to fake bank stes where they are asked to fill in credit card and password information. The phisher then uses this info to withdraw money from the victims accounts.
